feeding tube. [trigger #104]

Did you know I had a feeding tube in once? Not because I was sick or anything, just because I got really into Law & Order and started watching that on Netflix. Since that shit’s like 80 seasons long, I was watching every waking our of the day. I got so into it, I ended up forgetting to eat because I was just straight watching Law & Order. First, they put in an I.V., but then my veins started reacting poorly to the needles, so I opted for a feeding tube instead. It was really the only logical thing to do when you think about it.

They joked, and they drank, and they danced. The ate food, they told stories, they got on one another’s nerves. There was wine and cake, coffee and chocolate, cigarettes and song. And somehow, at the bottom of it all, these friends found themselves becoming a family. It was like a king cake, where you eat the sugary confection and find baby Jesus amidst the sweetness.

Most often, redemption comes to us in our pain and our suffering, in our wounds and our brokenness. Yet, every once in a while, there is a sweet moment when it comes to us in our joy, and our laughter; inside a sense of belonging.
